Coupon withholding tax: reduced rate for EU/EEA bondholders
Coupons on Timbro Group bonds (ISIN LV0000113629) are paid after Latvian withholding tax is deducted. Individual bondholders who are tax residents of another EU/EEA country can reduce the rate from 25.5% to 5% (0% for Lithuanian residents) by sending the documents below.
| Bondholder | Rate | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Individual, tax resident in another EU/EEA country, not carrying on economic activity | 5% | Self-declaration |
| Individual, tax resident in Lithuania | 0% | Tax residence certificate issued by VMI, attached to the self-declaration |
| Individual carrying on economic activity, or resident outside the EU/EEA | Treaty rate, where available | Tax residence certificate - contact us |
| Individual, no documents received | 25.5% | - |
| Individual, tax resident in Latvia, bonds held in a Latvian investment account | 0% at payment (you declare and pay the tax yourself when withdrawals from the account exceed your contributions) | Nothing |
| Individual, tax resident in Latvia, other account | 25.5% | Nothing |
| Legal entity | 0% (20% if in a low-tax or no-tax jurisdiction) | Nothing |
How to apply
- Check that your bank has your tax residence on record and holds the bonds in your own name.
- Fill in the self-declaration (PDF or MS Word below).
- Lithuanian residents: attach a tax residence certificate issued by VMI. A certificate can be used for one year from its date of issue, so send a new one each year.
- Sign with a qualified electronic signature (.asice, .edoc or signed PDF) and send to investors@timbro.lv.
- Send it before the payment date of the first coupon you want the reduced rate on. For the first coupon, paid on 30 November 2026, please send it by 20 November 2026. Documents received after a payment date apply from the next coupon.
- Let us know if your tax residence or status changes. We may ask you once a year to confirm that your tax status has not changed.
If you are a Lithuanian resident and your interest is above EUR 5,000 per year (about EUR 50,000 nominal), you also need to provide Annex 1 to Cabinet Regulation No. 178. It is available on request from investors@timbro.lv. Until the State Revenue Service of Latvia (VID) approves it, 5% applies (with the self-declaration); 0% applies from the next coupon after approval. Timbro does not refund tax already withheld; a refund can be claimed from VID under Regulation No. 178.
